Fireworks Can Be Stressful For Pets

Holidays can be stressful for pets—especially the 4th of July, when fireworks are loud and bright. My dog Bowie is terrified of storms and fireworks. He came to us after living in a backyard shed, and I can only imagine what made him so fearful. We tried safe spaces, holding him close, and keeping the TV on to distract him, but none of those helped much. After discussing his anxiety with our vet, we tried prescribed medication — it made a huge difference. He’s now much calmer during storms and fireworks, and I’m grateful we sought help.
Now is the time to plan if your pet is sensitive to loud noises. With storm season here and fireworks approaching, talk to your vet about options and make a plan to keep your pets safe, secure, and as relaxed as possible. The attached article (see link below) has additional tips.
